Dell GX280 3.4 GHz, 1GB RAM, SATA 40G Disk The installer pauses in the beginning when installing SCSI.sys and eventually says 'viamraid.sys is corrupted' reboot and try again is my only option. This happens using the nlite'd disk as well as using the XP install disk that DUX so kindly provided. My WinXP SP2 disk installs fine and putting SP3 over the top of that works as well. I wanna use DUX's install, I hear it's the bees knees!
I have to admit to being synaptically challenged when it comes to the Dux install. I tried to read through the long thread numerous times to work out where the proper install was and got called away to work each time. By the time I got back I had forgotten where I was. Dux did it in his spare time and I am thankful for that, but I am seriously considering asking my good friends, the Zevions, to abduct Dux and probe his brain until we can work out how to start this process and which version we use. Now I need their agreement not to use their other 'toys' on him.

LOL Gerry :). His problem is [was?] hardware related. The CD couldn`t read some files properly. Changing the CD/DVD could possibly solve it, but... I mentioned a few times in that thread that it`s extremely important to burn the installation CD at low speed [4x best], as this gives the most reliable and lasting burn. It is actually important to burn all your CD/DVD`s at low speed, if you want them to last longer than those burned at high speed. I use high speed burning only when in a hurry. What I discovered through some testing about the burn quality of CD/DVD media is that the quality of the burn is usually the best when you burn at half the speed the media is rated for. So if you have 8x DVD-R, you should burn it at 4x if you want to have a more reliable and longer lasting DVD, for instance. Cheers! p.s. new version, one file, newest patches, new thread coming soon. :)

mmmkay - so far so good, almost. the os is installed and working quite well. All drivers are installed, including chipset. Holy cow I've never seen Windows start so quickly! I'm trying to get the ASIO drivers for my M-Audio FastTrack Pro installed. (USB audio interface). Per the instructions, I disconnect the equipment, install the software, and plug in the equipment. Windows doesn't wake up and plug and play it. Reaper says 'no ASIO drivers'. I know it's visible to the OS because the WDM driver is visible and usable. I checked the Plug and Play service and it's started. I searched through your other thread and couldn't find anything that seemed relevant. Thanks for the efforts. This install is a keeper!
Seems that Windows doesn't recognize an usb device at all? That could be the reason that the WDM drivers have been installed but no ASIO which is specific to the device...
Well, that's a thought. But my memory stick works in the same USB port. And the FastTRack Pro works using the WDM drivers, so it appears that the USB port is working, just no ASIO drivers. Unfortunately, there is no option in the M-Audio installer program to select options. It seems it's all software or nothing. The part that appears missing to me is that the OS doesn't 'wake up' and install anything additional when I plug in the device. I'm wondering if there's a component of the OS that has been disabled that might control this behavior. I've tried different USB ports, same result. Anyway, thanks for the replies...
Is any other USB device recognized and especially does Windows inform you (with an ugly tone) when you plug it in? Edit: sorry, presumably you have disabled sound for Windows events. So you never will hear it? Edit-2: It's also a kind of shot in the dark because it's only a similar problem i had a long time ago. I've just found the link with the solution of that one:
