Hello I ran to a little problem when trying to record some old fashioned knob-tweaking. I have a pre-made melody in the track, and it's set to Record: Midi overdub. The automation mode is Write. For my brain anyway I'd be off to a good start: But when I hit record and start adjusting the parameters, this happens: What am I doing wrong?

A breakthough, an epiphany! It seems like I dont have to be recording at all to write parameter automation, this is all new to me! Another thing that was pretty weird was that although the VSTi had automatically mapped the controller, and it's set to midi channel 5 (along with my controller), I had to 'learn' the CC's from Reaper's automation list, and when I turn the knob, Reaper thinks it's actually channel 4 CC's... Anyone have any ideas why?

The channel numbering thing might be a counting issue. Some count MIDI channels from 0 to 15 and others from 1 to 16. You may encounter the same for controller numbers. As far as I remember Reaper itself uses different counting methods at certain places, but I am not sure if this perhaps has been fixed already.
