Hi Veal and welcome - you could start by opening a new session, create a stereo track and a master fader .......... plug your 1/4 inch outputs from the DM into both inputs on the front of the 001, and set the inputs on your stereo track to 1 & 2,then record enable (red REC button on the channel strip) & press play on the DM, then turn the gains on the preamps so they don't distort or send the stereo channel into the red ........ & you should be able to monitor your drum patterns. If you hit the red record button on the transport before you press play, you will record the incoming audio to the stereo track. Hope this helps & good luck Tony

1. Is there a pan dial as well as slider 2. If I set a plug in on a channel is it only nonitoring the effect ? is it recording it permanently? How would I Monitor it? then Record it ? 3. Whats a playlist ? 4. If I open a new session is that like opening a (new song) with all the edits etc.? 5.How do I completely get rid of a session, song or tracks OFF THE HARD DRIVE FOREVER ? PLEASE HELP. I really don't want to return this thing and need some real help starting out. Everyone who's got the digi-001 says its simple. It seems like these basics are harder for me then most.so please be understanding as I ask these totally simple questions. Thanks

You sound like you really need help with the basics. Once you understand your basics strongly then you can move on to other areas and start producing great music with the 001. Have you read the Chapter 2 of the quickstart booklet? It helps a lot with the basics. It shows you where the mixer is, the fader and the pan slider. It shows how to use plug-ins (plug ins can be heard and recorded once your dry audio track has been recorded)... If you delete a session folder then your session will be gone for your hard drive forever. Are you recording a porn soundtrack on your parent's computer? (just kidding!)

No way you'll get through Pro Tools without reading part of the manual ! This should be your bible for the next weeks (month?..). Amen.

I am getting some of the basics.I found someone with a manual.I can create a track.I know how to assign a plug-in to a channel strip.I hear the effects when RECORDING.Then when I mix can I further tweek it in the mix.Am I montoring the plug-in or Recording the Plug-in. I guess what I am confused about is. (Lets say I RECORD track 1 guitar with d-reverb can I adjust it at anytime later after the recording process and then whatever I have on that track when I mix is the final version for that mix. Then if I want to re-mix that session or song with different effect settings (lets say less reverb)for that same guitar do I do a whole new mix ? I know this is confusing PLEASE HELP.

The digi-001 reference guide is no longer being shipped with the units. Now you can order one $$$...You can read the PDF document reference guide if you can keep you eyes on that monitor without blinking.

Wow really? That sucks!!! An option though: try to have the PDF printed if you don't have a printer yourself!
