Don;t trust windows Taskmangler for readings. Download the free Process Explorer. See if you can spot any high CPU usage programs and stop them loading.There's lot of stuff that gets installed merely to advertise their products in the Taskbar that are not needed. Also, And,

the freezes are most likely a vst.. I can get freezes with a couple of mine.. sometimes certain functions within a vst mine mostly its totally stable. although if I turn my podxt off with reaper open (and using the pod asio driver) it will completely blue screen of death crash my computer. I know this doesnt help you.. but I guess what Im saying is that maybe the asio driver locks it up on occasion.
