Forgot to ask ...How can I tell the make and model of turbo I might need?

Your turbo is indeed shot. Remove it from the car and send it to Turbotechnics for a replacement core. Whichever one it is, it will still be when it comes back. Check the labels on the turbo they will tell you which one it is. If it has water pipes and oil pipes it is a watercooled one, possibly Mitsubishi, but if only oil pipes it is oil cooled and probably Garret-Airresearch. Al the best, Peter.

the breather boxes are cheap. around a tenner for a genuine volvo one, I had a similar problem, mine was spitting about a litre every 100 miles into a catch can. I had cleaned the breather box not so long ago so I decided to stick a new one on there, now its fine.
