To each, their own. Plugin latency is not an issue for me as I choose carefully. There are lots of plugins that have no or little latency so I avoid the bad ones while mixing. Waves L2 has a lot of latency so I reserve it for mastering only. Sadly, the UAD protocol carries its own latency issues, which is why I won't go that route for now. If something else works for you, more power to ya! As for me, PT works just fine(at least for my needs).

I have two UAD-1 cards and I am a huge UA-fan, because their plugins are simple top notch. But recently I switched to PTLE and I prefer a smooth workflow, so my UAD is out of the business right now. Also, native latency-introducing RTAS plugins are out of business. So I use only 0-to-10-sample latency plugins and ditch everything that has more. To bad thing: I cannot use my UAD-1s. The good thing: I try to get the most of my few 0-latency plugins and hey... to really learn your (even simple) tools can be a good thing. I cannot replace my UAD's 1176LN (uuaaahhh... how I miss you!), but my mixing skills improved significantly by trying to achieve something professional using stock plugins.

I like your attitude RIF, but it's still irritating to know that the only reason we don't have ADC is the deliberate crippling of LE.

There is only 1 plug in I use that induces latency. The Digi gate. Every time I use that plug I wish for PDC. I just wish for off line bounce first:D
