What devices do you use to stay awake in those late night sessions after getting up at 6 am to go to work several nights in a row. I don't like coffee so I am more of a Diet Dew kinda guy, all the caffine and none of the gut. But I think that this is wearing off for me. How about you?
...this may sound silly, but here is what I do. When I get home from work I completely get out of my work clothes, shoes, socks and all. Put on some fresh clothes, shoes, socks and etc... Prepare myself a nice meal, and then sit quietly (no TV blaring or stereo in the background) and enjoy the meal. Kind of a Yoga without the Yoga Believe it or not, this is a GREAT way to leave work behind and start on the evening with a fresh outlook. Also, it relieves work related stress that happens during the day. No need for caffeine if you start with a mind at peace. I know this can not possibly work for every single evening situation, but you would be surprised what a couple nights a week would do for your energy.
I work on my music out of love. I can wake up at 6Am, and end up working on my music till 3/4am the next morning. I just get SOOO into it, I cant stop. I like to start and complete a song idea in one session, in order to catch all the emotion. =-Ben
I take a nap just before bedtime... Actually, I can take a 'power nap' in as short as 10 minutes(usually longer), and it's amazing how refreshed I feel. I get more tired working on an 8 hour pc session than working construction for 8 hours, so that's obviously mental exhaustion. Those power naps do wonders. I try to focus on a beautiful place, nothing else, and I can fall asleep. ~Roy
i agree about the meditation. i meditate...eyes closed, laying down, under the covers, brain off. I try to meditate about 2 or 3 hours after getting home, then work on my music all night. Christian

It's easy for me,I put in 7 12 hour days offshore then I go home with 7 days off every other week.Only bad thing about that is I have no way of doing the music offshore unless I get a laptop or something to go portable.
