Hello. I've discovered I have a major issue with project BPM. I load in some tracks, in this case, 8 tracks of 44.1Khz 16-bit WAVs of ~4:30 length. I press play and all is fine. But if I change the project BPM, either in project settings or BPM gadget, then it destroys the playback! :o At first I changed it from default 120 BPM to 140. When I play it buffers for about 7-8 seconds, makes a sound for a second then redlines and cuts out. I then changed it to 60 BPM and this time it buffered for about 4 seconds. But the result is the same! Starts playing then redlines. :-? Is this a normal issue and do I have to reset any settings to get it back to normal? AFAIK my settings should be at default. Project is set to 44100 sample rate but unticked.

Some further info. I checked all the playback settings. Both in Reaper and in OSX. All were set to CD rate. I even tested requesting CD rate to no change. But one thing I noticed. When ever I change the BPM each track has a note to the left of the name with a rate value. For 60 BPM it is 0.5, for 180 BPM 1.5 and for 240 BPM logically 2.0.. This is bizarre! I told it to change BPM, not sample rate! Why is it dividing the BPM value by 120 and using that as a sample rate multiplier! Have I missed something obvious here and made a classic newbie mistake!? :-?

Thanks for your input Fergler. I recall those settings. I changed it to Time when I was adding some tempo markers. I then changed the two Timebase settings in Project Setting back to beats but it made no difference. I tried all combinations of beats to no avail. This doesn't make sense as I was adding tempo markers to another project and Reaper didn't change the pitch for each tempo! I'm still lost! :-?
