Hi, Is there a way to precisely align two adjacent items using the waveforms ? I mean, inside a crossfade, the waveforms of each item are modified by the crossfades. I need to see the two full scale waveforms in order to align them. Is there any trick for this ? Thanks.

Doing a lot of classical editing. I need to align two items in the SAME track... like in Pyramix where you have a kind of zoom window on the crossfades to fine edit them. What is FIPM ??

My bad. OK for free item positioning... What I need is to see the full waveform INSIDE the crossfade. This option doesn't seem to change this. Attached an example of the crossfade in Reaper and in Pyramix where the two waveforms are seen without the effect of the fade. This technique makes it very easy to edit and align different takes.
Sorry, I'm not really seeing what's different in those two screenshots other than a different interface. Are you talking about needing to see the sum of the two waveforms into one? Edit: oh wait, are you talking about how in Pyramix you can see the grey area of the waveform and how it looked before the crossfade, along with how the crossfade is effecting it layered in yellow on top?

Ok, not very clear, I admit. This feature has been already requested at the end of the post #69 of the following thread. This is exactly what I need. It shows a short video of the editing in that case. Attached a screenshot. In that case the alignment is made with the greyed out part before and after the crossfade. It could be done by letting the original waveforms inside the crossfade.
Ah, well I've not seen any option for anything like this in Reaper yet. Maybe someone else knows more about this, but to my knowledge it's just not possible at this point.
That feature request is great, I'm not sure what point that got to, or when we might see it in REAPER. In the meantime, I often use the extra track+folder method when I'm working on these detailed types of crossfades. I do this quite often. 1) put the items on separate tracks 2) create a folder track that holds only those two tracks with the items to be cross-faded.

yeah, there's nothing like that in reaper...your talking about sequoia, i m talking about sadie trim editor.. It's the only FR i subscribed till now :D I was workin about make a macro tu use the cross fade editor, the free item posistioning, zoom and something else to "recreate it" someway. I didnt have much more time to work on it, but hamish just gave me a cool hint i didnt think about! Let me know if you have any kind of idea about it
