hi, i'm trying to integrate tape into my reaper setup. so far I've managed to get the delay compensation working under the preferences/recording tab and that works very well. but it works on a global level which presents a problem when I want to only effect 1 channel. so i'm searching for a way where I can track multiple channels at once with say 1-2 of those channels going via tape repro heads. any help well appreciated.
thanks for the responses. currently i'm using nudge on the repro tracks after they're recorded so i'm interested in moving away from this and find something that works like clasp. the time adjust plug i'll give a try. but it hits a problem when I have 2 reel to reel decks in use. I've read on the forums that the voxengo timedelay plug doesn't work so I haven't tried that yet but will give it a go myself. I've also tried the reainsert plug but it seemed more aimed at mixdown then tracking so I had some odd results. if anyone else has a solution i'd like to hear. i'm sure this can be done. seems it can in Cubase but I am not a fan of Cubase so would very much like to get it going in reaper.

You could use ReaInsert to send to the tape machine, as it measures the latency by itself. It's not gonna be perfect as the tape speed shifts but I think it's the easiest way. EDIT: Maybe put it as an input FX? Haven't tried this so not sure how it'd work. EDIT2: Oh, just noticed you already tried it. :D well anyway I'm not sure if it's gonna get more easier than that
hi, i'm in the same situation trying to sync the tracks from the repro head with the original ones. have you find a solution to automatically do this? i tried also js/time_adjustment on input fx with a negative sample value but it does nothing. i do it with nudge contents after recording stops but would prefer an automatic way. let me know if you have any resolution to this problem.

thanks. i'm currently using this as workaround i.e. negative delay on the tape sends. but it's times that i have more than one hw outputs sent to the console, mixed there, passing through outboard gear, then sent to tape and recorded back in DAW. so in this case I have to set negative delay on ALL tape sends. I was wondering if I could do it only once in the input fx but since PDC is disabled in input FX it seems that's the only way..
