My CPU(6800K) allows for different overclocks on individual cores. My projects performance is often limited to the RT performance, which might sit at 90%, while CPU is at 25%. While i'm probably in the minority with my CPU, so understandably not a priority here, it would be good to be able to specify the primary core so Reaper knows where to stick the most intensive thread.

Sorry to be a PC overclock Noob here, but can't you just overclock ALL cores to same max value ?

God didn't make all cores equal. Traditionally all cores are overclocked by the same amount, which means your overclock is limited to the weakest core, but some chips these days are able to identify the strongest cores and allow them high overclocks.

Thanks for the info, i didn't know that. Indeed, your request seems to make sense.

It's possible Reaper doesn't have control over this, and it comes down to intel drivers of course.

The question is more if you have the time to play with such things and if system stability is unimportant. :D Chips with defects are used for less demanding configurations. Sorting them for use at lower speeds is one of the things done. Yes, often the culprit is only one of the cores can't handle full speed. So therefor the rest could be clocked at full spec. If you really have the time to play, sure grab a reduced price i5 instead of an i7 and see what bits of it perform at full spec. But if you need a reliable system, just get an i7 spec'd for full speed. These are sorted for a reason! :D

Stable overclocks are not hard to achieve, and the feature i'm talking about is not available on i5s or most i7s - only on the i7-69xx/68xx or extreme range.

no with these chips it normally 1 or 2 cores are stronger than the others. I have a 6 core, 12 logical core cpu. getting the most out of it means having a highly capable multi threaded application. When the ability of the application is limited by the final processing chain, ie the last thread, it's limited by a single thread - thus having that final thread on the most powerful core is the only way i can get the most out of my setup.
