1) Click the Track envelopes/Automation button for the track. 2) Change the automation mode to latch. 3) Click in the pan box. 4) Play the track, move the pan knob. 5) Reopen the envelopes window, and change the automation mode back to Trim/Read. 6) Edit manually. You'll probably want to reduce the number of points, and place them more accurately. HTH

I see your point. Tbere's probably an easier way of doing that. It would probably be an enormous fuss to set up, but I guess you'd only have to do it once. maybe somebody has.

The problem with easy to access automation drawing tools is that newbies sometimes find them by accident while following very good advice like, "This is REAPER; just click everything. Also, right-click everything." Then they come here and complain that their renders sound wrong, and swear there's no automation on the master track....

Insert JS/utility/volume_pan on the track. Move the pan slider, then click the "param" button at the top, and select "parameter modulation". In the parameter modulation dialog, enable LFO. Now pan is automated with a sine oscillator. If you want to print the automation for fine tuning, you can record the automation in write mode, just as if you were moving the slider manually.
