Hello there on this bright and sunny day from South Wales... Just got my new Pipercross p/filter with 'Dirt Retention Additive' and was wondering which is the best way to apply it, and which side?? Thanks in advance Matthew

Hi, A new filter should have been pre-treated (quite lightly) with the oil already.. You can, should you wish, add a spray more of said retention oil before fitting.. You should spray the side facing the incoming air, and only do so very lightly. Let the filter dry for 20-30 mins once sprayed before fitting to the car.. Des. . . ;)

Thanks Des will do. I've found it does make a difference, whether its just my imagination, dont know. Does seem more responsive though. Just fitted a strut brace and that does make a difference, even the wife notices it...:) Thanks again Matthew

Hi, The two reported problems of using these filters are: 1) The oil used (if used too much) seeps through and is drawn into the air intake - and from there onto the MAF wire sensor.. This will result in incorrect MAF reading and the car runs "lumpy" etc... 2) Because they have a higher flow rate, it can be that small particles can be drawn into the air intake. From this the small particles can cause wear, particularly on turbo fins. Make sure if cleaning to clean thoroughly and oil again - in 2 or 3 stages - and not apply too much oil (see 1). Otherwise, most people that have used them have been happy with the experience.. Des. . . ;)

If you need more of the oil at a latter date visit your local motorcycle dealer. Especially one that caters for motorcross bikes. They should carry air filter oil as most off road bikes use washable air filters

This link was completely discredited when nobby said it was sunny in Wales....being from Bridgend i know this to be a lie.... :-) Re the filters, have never had probs with either K&N, Green or Pipercross... as long as not too much oil as the other guys said... if you do it clean off the MAF anyway.... What strut brace did you go for Sparco, OMP or Volvo....???
