I recently reformatted my boot-drive. I previously had installed Shwa's midi note-filter. It is absolutely critical for my rig. I no longer can see it from Reaper's loader. It's still there in the folder, it just can't be seen by Reaper. I tried putting it in the Reaper plugins folder, then in the VST plugins folder. I did all sorts of re-scans. It just won't come up. Any ideas?
About the only explanation is that the plugin is not in the right JS path. Go to options/preferences/plugins and make sure the JS root path is set to the actual JS root directory you want to use -- the directory that contains the Effects directory, which contains all the JS plugins. This is set to Program Files/REAPER by default, in other words, by default Reaper looks for JS plugins in Program Files/REAPER/Effects.
--------------------- I used to have a picture of an E30 here.
It is set that way. Reaper sees every other midi plugin in the folder EXCEPT that one. I can't imagine that the plugin is corrupt, as it was working fine before I re-formatted. Ughhh. There's no other plugin that does key-range limiting.
It's not corrupt. Reaper will list anything under the JS root dir / Effects as a JS plugin, a bad plugin will fail at load time. No offense, but are you searching for the plugin by name in the add-fx window? The order of JS plugins in the add-fx window may not be the same as the order you are looking at in the folder. Try this, rename one of the JS in the folder. Restart Reaper, the new name should appear. If not, Reaper's not looking at the directory that you think it is.
I spoke with Aaron today, and we figured it out. Even he was stumped at first. Here's the deal: This isn't a JS plugin, it's one you made for me special, earlier this year. For some reason, Reaper didn't see it until I put it in the "Shwa" folder. Oddly enough, I USED to have it in the VST plugins folder, and it worked fine. Something must have changed with Reaper 2.53, because now it can't be recognized there. IMO, there should just be one midi plugins folder. It would simplify things. Anyway, I'm running fine now, Thanks for your time, as always.
--------------------- I sold this car after a very lengthy restoration, but it's just too pretty to remove from my sig.
