Hello again!
quote:
From Toecat: Just food for thought but can you install two different sound cards or would there be a conflict. I mean keep your 001 then install a MOTU system to run DP? Or possible use the MOTU 828 to run DP? I think if you really look at it two different tools for different jobs. Why settle for one of you could have the best of both worlds?

Yes, I will keep both worlds. I asked from Motu-forum is it possible to have both systems without conflict and answer was Yes. I have also talked users who have both systems. Certainly you can't use 001 and 828 in the DP at the same time.
quote:
From Lwilliam: Hmmm...does this assume that the DSP chips will stagnate and not get faster, also?

Sure they will. It's hard to say things clearly, because english is not my mother tongue
When I said that "In the future TDM based system would be limited", I meant that the used hardware I would buy today will be the same hardware after 3 years and I couldn't get it more powerfull. Sure the new TDM (I think we should say HD) systems will be faster, but this used hardware will always be the same used old hardware. I'm just talking about money. It is cheaper to upgrade only your computer than the whole audio system again and again. I will anyway buy a new Mac in the future so I'll get my extra power there.
quote:
As soon as you upgrade to 96K, you've HALVED the number of tracks AND plugins that you'll be able to use. Upgrade to 192K and it halves again.

Very true. And I think there is no need to record a rock band with 96K, but with acoustic music it would be good to have this alternative. Those acoustic groups I usually record are very small and track count is always under 10 anyway. This type of music doesn't need many plugins either. And I'm also searching for a rich uncle... all the time
