Well today my mate took his 52 plate 307 for its MOT. It failed on headlamp bulbs, and rear brake pipe leaking Advisories were a plenty, worn brake discs, worn front antiroll bar and a few other things. So whats he running around in now? My 740 :D Ah the gloating was endless :D His 307 had 65k miles on it. My volvo = 154,500 :D
307s are nice cars but are have problems with rear brakes and other bits and bobs. They havent been devloped properly apparently. Another case of a car being rushed into production!
It's a bloody Peugeot! Need I say anymore? My first car was a Peugeot 106, then I changed it for a 306 DTurbo HDI and then I got the S60 D5!!! Bit of a jump up in class I know! Those damm Peugeot's are a nightmare for bits failing!
Poor quality french cars. One of our friends has recently put there Renault Megane in for its first MOT and it failed on split driveshaft boots only 24,000 miles and I am told a common fail on Renaults.
My old (W Reg year 2000) never passed an MOT first time! Always failed on something stupid - nail in tyres, paint peeling of the orange indicator side bulbs, etc. Had to go! Volvo has flown through MOT's!
Back in 2000 I had a citroen Xantia 1.9TD it was less than 3 years old, it was the biggest pile of crap I have ever owned, in 4 months of ownership all this happened 1. Headgasket 2. Heater Matrix 3. indicator stalk earthed itself and serious smoke came from the dash 4. Stop solenoid failed 5. Main suspension sphere failed 6. Cam belt tensioner failed 7. Electric window passenger side failed 8. Water pump failed 9. 1 of the 2 cooling fans failed plus other things I have forgotten about and can't be arsed to re-live the experience. In the end I got so fed up with it I kicked in every panel and took my Mag light to the windows - the neighbours watched in bemusement. French cars are crapola in my view end of. Ali
Of course I checked tyres before having an MOT!!! I actually carry out my on MOT (checking most of the same things MOT tester checks - tyres, bulbs, seatbelts, etc). When you check tyres obviously you check the tread depth, and i used to check the tread and itself. The only bit i couldnt check was the bit in contact with the road! It wasnt all bad owning my peugeot 306! I loved driving that car, possibly even more than the S60! It was great for chucking into corners, and the acceleration was pretty good for 90bhp! Sometimes i still wish I had it! Was a pleasure to drive, just a pain in the anus when bits went wrong - EGR valve, air con system, etc.
