Hi guys, I'm looking at getting the East West Symphonic Orchestra Silver software and was wondering if it worked ok with Reaper or not? There is no mention of Reaper at all on the website (well I can't find it). It mentions whether it works or not with other DAW's though. I assume it does work with Reaper but don't want to buy this and find it doesn't. Thanks :)

I use it too, but again with the pre play kontakt version. Works fine. Anything in particular you are worried about?

The current version of QL Play works well with Reaper. Once you load Play, you have access to all of your QL packages at once from within the Play browser. This makes it easy to load and audition different instruments when looking for the right sound. regards, Jack

Like ED I've got EW-Gold in Kontakt and it works great. Does Play have DFD mode or does it have to load the samples into memory? That certainly something to consider, although I don't know the answer to that.

Of course PLAY has DFD, but it seems to be coded less efficiently than Kontakt overall.

I have always loved the sound of Hollywood Strings and Nick Phoenix actually made the first Gigastudio Horn library called QL Brass, but I have tried others DAWs using PLAY and it's just too clunky, load times are extreme and realtime work is a PITA. Too bad as the sounds are excellent. Workflow wise if you got the dime and lots of time, build your SSD RAID rig cause that's what you'll need...

I'm using PLAY. It works, but does occasionally crash for me. I restart Reaper and all is well again. I can usually replicate the crash pretty easily, but if I load the Play standalone and do the same steps, it does not crash, so does seem to be isolated to either Reaper or the VSTi itself.
