hey, i created a send to a track (call it X) from track Y. i then cut track X out of 1 folder and pasted it into another folder. i then noticed that the receive was gone! is this intentional? i think it's a bug, but maybe it prevents me from electrocution or something

Yes, this is intentional, i.e. by design. It prevents the user from messing up the routing when cutting/pasting tracks from one project to another. If you're using extensions there are some actions in them to cut/copy/paste sends/receives or full routing from/to tracks (there are even actions to cut/copy/paste tracks, items, env points depending on focus which take routing into account).
