This has been previously discussed and maybe devs haven't had time to look into it because all of the good things they are adding and/or improving for v3(too much work to do and too many users asking for something or reporting some bug). When "Draw items labels above rather than within" is ticked we have this behaviour on FIPM and/or Takes: As you can see items' labels are displayed over other items, covering sometimes their peaks. Items' heights should take into consideration this option automatically when it's enabled (Draw items labels...). Maybe we could take advantage of this new option and make takes labels be displayed above the item when we make them active (if we select take 2 its label is displayed above, if we select take 3 its label is displayed above and so on):
This might be veering off topic slightly, but at least it's a +1 with a reason:) There have been a few [heated] threads about quick audio editing a la ProTools. I'm not too fussed with key-modifiers myself but would be quite happy with suggested enhancements. Although I've not heard any chatter about it, 2.99pre8 introduced a feature which is a big step in the right direction: "+ Drag in floating item label area to select item+time (experimental)" Maybe the reason it hasn't received much attention is because you have to have "Draw Item Labels Above..." enabled. I assume that most people don't do that because, as has been pointed out in this thread, it looks terrible with multiple takes. So -- three things: 1. +1. Labels should be cleaned up as suggested here. 2. What do people think of the new selection option? Does it meet needs? 3. Is it really ok to have the new selection option be unavailable to those who continue to have labels on top of items? (Or what if I want to work on take 2?) Don't hesitate to slap me around if I've misunderstood all of this or derailed a good thread.

This is in line with this thread. Now that we can drag and select in that area above the waveform, is it possible to make the selection work across more than 1 region? Right now it only selects "1" region, and not any others. It would be great to use this over say 20 small regions, and group them, move them etc. Also, could the option to Actually "Select" the region instead of just the loop region, then shift-s to cut the region in question. Thanks.
