Isn't there away to do this whole process easier? I watched and read most of the info on this and it is so long winded, surely somewhere someone got fed-up and made some scripts to make this implementation easier. What I am referring to is the fact that a simple use of a multiple out instrument within Reaper, should be just that simple. I understand that the program is open ended and anything goes anywhere - but out there somewhere must be someone who doesn't want to click 400 times to get a 16 channel instrument to work right. Dont get me wrong I am a newby to Reaper and I am considering moving over to it, I just find it strange that this would be so difficult when all else in the program is so easy to do? Stunning software by the way and rock solid from the word go.

There are already some ready made multi-out templates here that might be useful:

Track templates are the way to go, especially if you want the parts to have specific default names. But "Build multichannel routing for output of selected FX..." + "Build 16 channels of MIDI routing to this track" get you set up really quick, too.

Thank you for the reply, I've gone through most of the treads and have setup some templates. My Q though was should this not be easier? Everything is so customizable that surely someone somewhere wrote a script that you could choose 1.how many audio and midi outs you want. 2.do you want the midi faders to route midi data to the VSTi etc etc. This one thing makes the learning curve huge for anyone who comes into Reaper.
