Hi..... I've been using the MIDI ports on my 002R for ages with absolutely no problems, but recently needed to increase the number of MIDI ins and outs, so I got an Emagic AMT-8, which according to the Digi site is supported.... The problem is this - about every 10 minutes MIDI stops coming into protools..... I have it connected via USB, and the USB light flashes when I send MIDI in, but it's not getting to Protools. Sometimes this can be rectified by opening AMS, and clicking rescan MIDI, and sometimes I have to switch the AMT-8 off then on again. I have the latest driver version 1.5... anybody else had problems like this, or have I bought a dud? Or is there a cunning fix that is kept secret from all but the cleverest users? ps the AMT-8 is connected direct to the computer, not a hub. Thanks Jon

Yep, we do. No problems whatsoever. sounds like you're using a broken usb-cable? Did you download unitor-8 control from emagic.de? You might want to filter out messages you don't use, the more you filter, the more stable it will run (e.g. 'realtime', aftertouch, mtc, beatclock). Check if you're using the usb port for the amt exclusively (check 'about this mac' and see if the port is not hubed inside). You might want to use as much bandwidth as possible... good luck

Fantastic...... Thanks! Ran Unitor controller, and it seemed to solve the problem..... Nice to have that working, rather than it just being a blue box with flashing lights in the rack! Thanks again!

Another thing that is pretty obvious, don't run something like a USB midi interface from the USB port in the back of a display, there is not as much juice there as with ports on the computer itself. I also learned when I did my big upgrade to a G5 that the G5 has a weaker USB output for the the display USBs, I can't use my my cool little round apple USB speakers from the back of my display anymore like I could with the now antiquated G4 Cube they came with. Too bad apple can't keep from downgrading things like this while they upgrade processor speeds.....I was a bit disapointed with that. Sean I

Cool, glad we could help! By the way: we run the AMT on a G5 just on one of the port at the back of the machine. The usb ports on a keyboard or monitor are always hubbed, so shared with other ports, meaning not using full bandwidth...
