How do i get windows explorer to STOP plying my mp3's? anyone know? i want to use the windows media player. i already removed real player because it kept messing with my preferences and now this f@kin explorer thing is irritating me. thanks.

i am using win98. the mp3 box is checked already on the media player, but win explorer still plays the mp3 file in the same window as the website i am viewing. the "explorer" player pops up on the left hand side and i cant figure out how to make it go away! argghhhh.. . wait a second- i think it IS the windows media player that is coming up and playing the song, its just "attached" to the window i am already viewing rather than playing in the regular media player. whatever it is, i don't like it!

I know what you're talking about, Robb. It's that little side window thing. Have you already tried going to Control Panel/Sounds Multimedia/Audio and setting it to 'No Sounds'?

hey robb, i sent you an email but it got bounced back to me. anyway, at the bottom of the media explorer bar you see the play button, pause, etc. right above the play button is a menu called "Media Options". click on that, go to settings and uncheck everything...

Try this. Open Windows Media Player and click on tools. Click on options. Click on formats. Make sure what you want it to play has a check in the box. This should reset your defaults.
