Greetings all! I just purchased a new g4 733 Tower, and I purchased a Digi001, which of course comes with LE and the upgrade. HOWEVER, since i need to sync clock, etc, I tend to use older version of PT...3.4, 4.1, 4.3, etc. My question is this: Before i waste the time installing all of these versions on different partitions on the mac, will they all work with Digi001? If not, does that mean Ill ahve to install a AMIII in the G4 to use 3.4-4.3? Thanks!

-Digi001 hardware is only compatible with PT LE 5.0 and later. -Digi001 hardware with PT LE software can resolve to RCA S/PDIF, Optical S/PDIF and ADAT Optical clock sources. -If you absolutely need to use a SMPTE timeline in your session, then using an AMIII card with PT 4.3.1 (or earlier) is your only option). Check out the following link for additional timecode workarounds with PT LE: Brent Brent [ August 23, 2001: Message edited by: DigiTechSupt ]

from the digi tech notes..
quote:
the systems will stay locked for pretty long periods of time (even minutes)

Wow! I cant imagine a song lasting more than "minutes" The basic idea here is this: If you need sample acurate sync INTO pro tools, you can come close. The fix by nudging and stuff. IF you need to put back audio to a outboard machine, well, good luck. It will work on music that doesnt require actual sync. Dont get me wrong. Im not trying to be a complete ass. Im trying to get Digi to own up to the programing. Perfect sample acurate sync via ADAT time code and other methods were taken out of LE. This is to make the TDM more atractive. Digi has all the right in the world to do this. I support (dont enjoy) this decision. Many LE users here have very different results when tryin to achieve the MTC sync as promised. Do a search and try to find the magic combination of third party gear and endless offsets to achieve useable sync.
