I have issue i'm not really sure where to post question, so i figure here's a start. the problem i have is I have G4 with OS9 running protools v.5 LE version. it was working fine for a long time, however, someone did something to the mac, and I wasn't there, but I now get the error 'Protools hardware is either not installed or used by another program' whenever I try to load the program. I tried to reinstall program with no luck, still the same error. all the connections seem to be okay, but it sounds more like to me that the error its giving is a software conflict. I tried clearing the preferences folder and clearing out the files associated with the protools program to no avail. I know the most about macs in my area, but its sad because I really don't know anything except what i learned by using Apple IIgs at school in 6th grade.=P so any tips/suggestions would be appreciated=)

sound control panel..set it to "built in" make sure you are not running other apps that require the digi outputs

Also, make sure OMS is not an open application (in the Finder window) and configured properly. Follow the step by step instructions in the PT LE/001 install manual. The same thing happened to me when I first started a while ago. I thought you could have OMS open while trying to launch Pro Tools LE, you can't. I mean, it's obviously required to run PT LE, but, you can't have it as an actual open application during a PT LE launch. Chris

i was getting a "Protools hardware is either not installed or used by another program" and later realized that i had an audio CD in the CD tray. Unlike Windows, a G4 wont show u any program running while playing an audio CD, but it will try to use the Digi's outputs. I just popped out the audio CD (Sneaker Pimps' "Becoming X") and all was ok. hope ur problem is as simple as mine. PEACE, ANT
