Why does this take so long? When you fire up Reaper after a forced shutdown and the reaper.exe process is still active after the previous session, the application will fail to initiate the Asio soundcard, midi-interface and such. I found no other solution than to lean back and wait until the process decides to disappear from Windows task manager. T
In task manager, are you able to kill Reaper.exe from the processes tab? I'll check tomorrow as I already shut down for the night. I have seen similar behavior: I will close Reaper and continue web browsing for an hour or more and then when I finally shut down, a waiting for Reaper to close msg appears. Windows kills Reaper and then the system shuts down.
Hi, I have the same issue with my USB audio card once in a while. What I do is simply turn the power off on it, and then the "zombie" process dies immediately. I don't unplug it, I just hit the power button on it. I wouldn't recommend unplugging it then (just in case). Regards.

I appear to have a similar, but different issue. Often Reaper will just die for no apparent reason, although, at a guess, it probably is when it's going offline/online with my MOTU 828 ASIO Driver! What happens is it just hangs and won't go away. I can click on close and end task and "end process" in task manager, but the process doesn't disappear it just stays there until I reboot my PC which is a nuisance. Pretty much straight away though I can relaunch Reaper and it seems to work fine. DO you know if there's an option somewhere I can't see to get Reaper to create a debug log as it's going along? Perhaps that would give me an idea of what to look for if there's something on my system screwing up. John

I thought I'd mention, I've just unchecked the "close device when reaper is stopped and inactive" to see if that avoids the problem in future. I'll try to keep you updated.
