I'm a new owner of a Digi001 on a G4. I write music using my Yamaha S80 synth. However, I would like to start recording in midi instead of analog. I have OMS midi drivers for the synth, but will I also need to purchase a midi interface? Please explain to me exactly what I need to do. Thank you for your time

I also have an S80. The Digi001 has a midi interface so just stick the midi in and out from your S80 into the midi out and in on your Digi001 (in to out and out to in). Then configure OMS and tell it you have an S80 on the Digi001 midi port. The final icing is to use OMS names and to add the S80 patch names to your system so you can call up the S80 patches ny name within PT LE. You should be able to download the S80 names file from the OMS names repository on the web so you don't need to enter them by hand. Once all that is done - you're on your way. Add a midi track, select the S80 and appropriate patch, select record and it should all be happening!! Good luck.

My setup is slightly different in that I use a Roland MIDI controller keyboard with a Vintage Keys module. The configuration of this is a bit more confusing because I have a MIDI Out on the keyboard controller & MIDI In, Out & Thru on the Vintage Keys. If I want to add a drum machine or other modules, should I get a MIDI patchbay or anything like that? If anyone has any tips for this please let me know. Thanks!
Try to make do with daisy chaining until you do get into trouble... some drum machines don't have a through so put it at the end. The one draw back with daisy chaining apart from the midi bottle neck (delay) is you can't address the patch changing as easily as you can with a port per device. Get to know your system and how you like to work, then buy an interface that realy suits you needs. good luck.

There is a Global setting and also an individual track setting. Make some test recordings and use the samples ruler to work out the negative ofset you require. I have a JV1080 an My system hovers around negative 220 samples. [ July 06, 2001: Message edited by: Kev ]
