I use Reaper as a live sequencer and would like to be able to loop certain regions of a song on the fly, at the touch of a midi pad. This would take these actions : 1. set time selection from current region 2. Transport : Toggle repeat I already made a custom actions macro including this : 1. Item : Select item under mouse cursor 2. Time Selection : set time selection to selected item 3. Transport : Toggle repeat ... which is not bad, but I need to place the mouse on an (empty) item and would rather have Reaper set time selection from current region.

I am responding to myself, in case other guys would be interested in what I found out. Reaper knows how to set time selection to selected items, how to select items in a selected tracks and how to select all tracks in a group. So, what I did is create a track with an empty item corresponding to the length and position of the loop I want. Then, I grouped that one track in - say - group 01 + renamed this group by the name of the song. Then, I put these actions together as a custom macro : Group : select all tracks in group 01 Item : select all items in selected tracks Time Selection : set time selection to selected items Transport : toggle repeat This allows me to have one custom actions macro per loop I want to repeat or not. It takes a bit of preparation and programming, but it works.

Select and Loop Current Region 

Thanks for this mio*star! For moments when I don't have region loops pre-planned in a song I created a couple of scripts: one to loop a region on the fly and then one to kill off the loop. LoopCurrentRegion.lua -gets region at playhead -sets timeselection to the region -sets transport repeat state (this one can be accomplished by making a custom action as well) RegionLoopOff.lua -clears time selection -unsets transport repeat state
