I'm reposting, because the title of the last one was somewhat misleading. (here it is in txt format:) home.earthlink.net/~uxb52/data/caroline.mp3 Here it is.......I officially release the hounds to critique this recording. Couple of things, though: it's pretty barebones, and it needs something at the end, and it's a scratch vocal that I realize is out of tune. Other than that, have at it, people. I needs help. Gear: 001, Mackie 1604VLZ-PRO 4033's on overheads, 57's on top and bottom of snare, 421 on floor tom, 441 on rack tom, U87 on omni for drum room mic, D112 for kick, pod for guitars (file under: necessary evil), DI for bass, and the danelectro daddy-o for vox distortion (file under: why not?) Gibson Les Paul Recent Fender USA Jazz Bass '65 Slingerland Kit 195? Ludwig snare Any and all cymbals....... Go get 'em.

Nice song! weird effect but I kinda' like it. Maybe try a "B" mix with it only on the guitar tracks and vocal, not the drums. Or maybe even use the automation to bring it in/out where the drums r not playing and where they break down. Love the break at 1:30. The end seems cool to me with the distorted fade out. Try a little highend to open the mix up. Even though I mainly listen to and produce Urban music, I do find good songs of all types. That's what makes music the universal language. You can comment on some R&B rough mixes in the audio section of my website. BIG SUAVE was recording with Digi-001.

Good song! I like the voc effect but only in the 1:44 part. They sound in tune to me. Backing vocal, where are they? And the guitar, well it's a personal preference but I would double them. I guess I would sneak in some doubled vocals as well. You'll probably hate this but I'd chop off the last minute. Sean

I listened to it again. just 30 sec. off the end. It seemed like a minute the first time.

sorry cuttooth for the late reply. First, great, really great drum tones. Warm full and not edgy. The distroted vocal gets tiring. I kept wishing the distortion would move to the bass, Primus like, and especially in the shuffle section, I wanted swing distorted bass. Also a little more bass drum pop, but that's my personal preference. And with that beatle-esque lead line and feel, I'm sure we were all dying for the backup ohhs and ahhs, at least. More please! Old Timer

Also don't apologise for the pod, it's the playing technique that matters. Question, sorry for ignorance , but what does your A/D conversion? I use 4033 for overheads also but with the stock converters I've had a little trouble. Old Timer
