I dont know, I think this is the best I've heard from you. I wouldn't tinker too much. What about the little part after 1:25, you drop everything except the gat in the background doing the riff for a couple of measures. Man this is gold, i've only listened twice and i know when i listen again i'll hear things i missed the first two. On the surface it's catchy but there's so much underneath. Opivy do yer recken you could do a render with a little bit more dynamic range just to see what we think. I've listened 4 times now and me ears are screaming for a rest. Awesome recording, big respect!

Yeah I mean the compression. It does sound a tad hot. Though i'm listening on headphones, don't know if that figures but the song and recording is top notch. I wonder if a nebula tape sim could tame the harmonics, thinking out loud :)

Yeah, I like this! massive tune really. It's coming across very well on my crap multimedia speakers. It's got plenty of depth (compared to modern 'punk') and a real convincing vintage sound. The drum sound is much more dynamic than for example 'These Days' where the snare is really squashed. Where you ever a Spy vs Spy fan? Something in some of the riffing and arrangements is reminding me of them, good melodic content.

Thanks Hamish... Wouldn't say I was a Spy's 'fan' but did like a few of their tunes.... and was a huge fan of that time and place. The Celibate Rifles top the list for me (and still do) but also Gangajang, Men At Work, etc... 'Spose there's nothing special about how they arranged their music but man, what melody and character.

Thanks for listen and comments.. You're dead right about the drums and it only really came apparent listening to it on Soundcloud. I'm not sure but there some pretty heavily distorted parallel compression on the drums, which may be muddying this up some. The only saturation is on the 2bus and it's pretty minimal.

Listening to it again today I think it's just the drums that sound over saturated/smashed - the guitars and vocal are fine. Sounds like there is a loss of transients in the drums - try rebalancing the dry/wet of the parallel compression to see if it restores the punch of the drums. It occurred to me today that we all must be so used to the 128 kbps mp3 of soundcloud - a low enough bitrate to have severe consequences on quality. This will be contributing to the loss of transients too.

Massive improvement :) Exactly as I imagined it would sound after some tweaking. Good work. These days I think saturation plugins are potentially the most damaging. Just a little too much and the mix turns into a mushy pulp and often the mixer is the last person to notice this.

Yep! Good improvement, snare cutting through the guitars just enough, and more detail from other parts of the kit too. Just listened through laptop soundcard and canalphones.
