Hey guys, does anyone know what brand and model of mic is being used in this pic? Close up: Is that another screen I see behind the pop filter? Why would they do that? And lastly: Thanks!

That is an AKG C12. Arguably one of the best vocal mikes ever made. Using 2 pop filters- who knows? Engineer preference, most likely.

i'd say an AKG C12 VR too and the 3rd pic : a Neumann U87i / 89i and maybe a Peluso?

Damn that C12 is an expensive mic, $5,000! Wow, but it makes her voice sound amazing. By the way, are there any other more affordable AKG vocal mics that perform just as well? I currently use a Rode NT1A and love it. I've been hearing a lot of good things about AKG and I'm curious about purchasing some of their stuff for vocal recordings. I'd also be interested in using my NT1A alongside an AKG for acoustic guitar recordings as well. Any ideas? I'd like to spend less than $500 if possible.

fwiw, the marshall v67g mic "borrows" the colour scheme and styling of that akg. the v67g is worth hunting down if yr broke, btw - they're decent dirt cheap vocal mics, a bit lofi but they crunch up nice. especially on female vox, total opposite of the rode.

Old C12 vs new C12 

The VR`s I have heard aren`t a patch on the earlier ones. Don`t know what they changed but it wasn`t an improvement. Still a nice mic though.
