I have a question maybe someone else has been or is in the same boat as me.I have no partner to monitor my vocals as I record them or get them ready to record. When Im setting up my vm pro I cant exactly monitor it while im in my homemade vocal booth.I find my self running back and forth trying to get the vocals sounding right.Is there a easier way to do this?I tried putting my microphone in front of my computer and setting it up,then move into the booth and try to record,but im sure changes occur doing this(I record in a bathroom so the different acoustics make the settings different im sure).Is there anyone who has this problem?Is there a good way to set up a homemade booth in front of your computer so you can just record and monitor at the same time?

Does the VM Pro have meters? If it does, you can learn how they correlate with the ProTools meter, then take the preamp into the 'vocal booth' with you, and monitor in headphones (on an extension cord). Me, I'm just going to find an attractive, talented assistant.

Well, with an elaborate system of mirrors you could watch the meters? Or, you could set up a computer monitor in the bathroom to monitor the levels while you sing. You should be able to find a cheap monitor... dual video cards are cheaper now too. Only thing is, I don't know how long the longest monitor cord is. Oh, or you could set up a wifi network with a laptop in the bathroom. That's probably getting into some money, though. -Olaf

i dont think ur supposed to go over 15ft with a monitor cable im not sure though... but if u had a TV with Svideo in and a video card with Svideo out i think Svideo can go like 40 feet... but a TV is gonna be more money if u can find one with an Svideo input thats also small enough to bring with u.. plus TVs cant handle a comps hi resolution so ud have to turn it down to probably below what PT requires for resolution

You can set up a wireless network, get a laptop (both computers have to have WinXP (prob pro). then use Remote Connection in Accessories/Communication to control your Pro Tools rig from another room or vocal booth.

haha this same thing happens to me my vocal booth is about 7 feet away and i engineer for everyone else when it comes to doing my own track no one is every around so im running in and out of the booth its a pain in my ass....i was thinking of putting a 2nd monitor in the wall of the booth but i mean if im gonna have 2 monitors im gonna want them both to spread the mix and edit window...so i just dont know.

Thanks for all the ideas,About the only thing I had in mind was to set my pa up on a low level in the bathroom run the mic out to my computer then mic my pa with my gt55(didnt work out too well)Have any tried to do that?

I suggested bringing the preamp and headphones into the 'vocal booth', why doesn't that work for you?

"Tele" That is actually the first thing im going to try(today).I have never thought about doing that before.
